Healthy Alternatives for Easter

Disclaimer: Written by Alexandra Frisby-Smith for Sassy Australia.

As I’m researching healthy alternatives to the easter chocolates we’ll all be craving over the coming Easter weekend, I’m sat in Max Brenners having the time of my life. Woops. Looks like I’m going to need this article for myself once I finish it ;)

Whether you’re super into your new training and healthy eating resolution and don’t want to ruin your efforts, you’re not a chocolate lover, or you simply just don’t want to feel as guilty as I do right now for stuffing your face full of chocolates. Then I encourage you to keep reading because we’re to help! It’s time for a healthy Easter! Yahoo.

  1. Cacao Bliss Balls These are DELICIOUS! I used to make these when I did 21 days without chocolate to help satisfy my cravings and they were a God send! Make sure you make them with Cacao if you really want to be healthy - not to be confused with cocoa. Cacao has an antioxidant that is fantastic for heart health. If you have it regularly, it will reduce your blood pressure numbers!

  1. Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Bouquet If you can’t get away from the sweet chocolate taste, try covering strawberries with chocolate. This one is super fun if you’re in a hostess mood! Get creative, make a bouquet of them, use dark, milk or white chocolate - let your imagination run wild! If you really want to take them to the next level crush up your favourite type of nut (we like peanuts) and dip the chocolate covered strawberries in them before the chocolate sets. Yummm!

  1. Sweet Potato Truffle Cups An interesting mix! We like these ones because they look like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups… we haven’t been brave enough to test these ones yet!

  1. Yoghurt Berry Popsicle Egg What’s better than frozen yoghurt and berry popsicles? Egg shaped popsicles! The cutest idea for an Easter treat, and this will 100% be a winner with the kids. We love!

  1. Guilt Free Chocolate Truffles Guilt free chocolate truffles you say!? Tried, tested and loved! These chocolate truffles are made with cocao (the super hero kind of chocolate, as mentioned in my number one easter treat). Super decadent… who knew a healthy treat could be so indulgent?
